While the early dinosaurs were bipedal (like modern birds), some prehistoric species were quadrupedal and others, such as Ammosaurus and Iguanodon, could walk on two or four feet equally easily.

Skull modifications such as horns and plates were common, while some species had armor.

Although known to be large animals, most of the dinosaurs in the Mesozoic were as large as humans or smaller.

Dinosaurs were scattered around the world at least by the Early Jurassic.
