Research has shown why talking contributes to plant growth. Actually, the answer is very simple: Carbon dioxide! When you talk to, speak to, or even be near your plants, you take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide through your mouth and nose.
The air you breathe is about 79% nitrogen, around 21% oxygen, and an insignificant amount of other gases. In response, the breath you exhale is 78% nitrogen, 18% oxygen, and 4% carbon dioxide. In this way, you increase the carbon dioxide concentration in the immediate vicinity of the plant you are talking about. Thus, by increasing the rate of photosynthesis, you contribute to the growth of the plant. Of course, in order for the carbon dioxide emitted from your mouth to affect plant growth, you need to talk to your plants for hours during the day.
