Octopus; General name of soft-bodied, eight-armed, mollusks classified in the order Octopoda. Octopuses, of which there are around 300 accepted species, are grouped in the class of cephalopods, along with squids, squids, and nautiloids.
The brains of octopuses are larger than even some vertebrates in terms of brain-body mass ratio. Octopus and cuttlefish have the largest brain mass ratio among mollusks.
The nerve neurons of the octopus are in its arms, so it can use its senses much more quickly.
In experiments on octopuses, it has been observed that they have intelligence abilities. It has been discovered in some experiments that they have short- and long-term memory. Although it has not been proven that they have learning abilities, its reality has not yet been clarified.
