In the 1940s, comics became an essential part of life, as it was just the time when superheroes became very popular and the publishers of these publications saw a great and promising industry to exploit. But the more time passed, the more and more heroes emerged in the cartoons, therefore, it became more difficult to please the public.
Intent on creating a character that would bring hope to the world and serve as the new face of freedom and justice, Joe Simon teamed up with Jack Kirby, one of the industry’s hottest talents, to develop some ideas for a new character, so little by little Simon’s head began to devise a hero prototype that would become one of the main symbols of Marvel Comics today, Captain America.
For those of you who don’t know, Simon was also an artist and was the one who did the first sketch of Captain America, and this is the first design the editor did for Timely Comics publisher Martin Goodman.”
