Legolas was a Sindarin elf who was part of the Fellowship of the Ring in the Third Age. He was the prince of the Woodland Realm (Mirkwood), as he was the son of the Elven King Thranduil of Mirkwood. Legolas was a messenger and a master archer. With his visual acuity, sensitive hearing, and excellent use of bows, Legolas was a valuable resource to other members of the Brotherhood. Despite their long-lasting differences, he was known to be friends with the dwarf Gimli.
