Obtaining most of their food from the leaves of eucalyptus trees, koalas generally live in forested areas made up of these trees.

Because these leaves have limited nutritional value and calorie content, koalas generally lead a sedentary life and sleep up to 20 hours a day.

Koalas are antisocial. Mother koalas take care of their cubs only as long as they need care.
