Leaves are the main organs in plants where photosynthesis, transpiration and respiration take place.

They are structures that come out of the nodes on the trunk and side branches and have limited growth.

In general, the leaf is broad, flat, green. It consists of 3 parts consisting of palm, handle and base.

The palm is the surface and takes needle, filamentous, elliptical, ovoid, kidney-like shapes, the edges are straight, edged, toothed, sawn, lobed, wavy.

There is a main vein and associated side veins in the middle. It is bare or hairy.

The stem connects the palm to the shoot. It is short, thin, thick, long, hairy, cachet. There are also stemless leaves.

The sole is where the foot attaches to the handle. It is symmetrical or asymmetrical.

The leaf top is pointed, blunt and rounded. The simple leaf is the only one on a stem. In the compound leaf, the palm is fragmented and divided into separate sections.

According to the way of attachment to the shoot, the leaves are called opposite as a pair at each point, circumscribed if they are three or more, and alternate if they are single along two rows at each point.

Plants’ respiration, assimilation, transpiration, etc. The green extension, which is useful for events, usually with chlorophyll, whose shape changes according to the plant, is called a leaf.

  1. Why do leaves turn yellow? Because there is not enough light and water for photosynthesis to take place in autumn and winter, the level of chlorophyll in the leaves decreases and other color pigments begin to emerge. These; xanthophyll, which gives yellow color to leaves, carotene, which gives orange color, and anthocyanin, which gives red color.
