There are debates about whether Nasreddin Hodja, who is mostly known for his stories portrayed as a sage who possessed a ready-made answer and a sense of humor, lived in reality, and if so, what his real personality was, but there are also some documents that indicate that he was a real historical figure.
According to the information obtained from these documents, Nasreddin Hoca, who was born in 1208 in the village of Hortu in Akşehir, received his basic education here and studied in the madrasah in Sivrihisar and assumed the duty of village imam in his hometown, where he returned upon the death of his father.
